A big welcome to my turn on the blog tour for Blue Night by Simone Buchholz.
Blue Night is the first in the series featuring Chastity Riley and was published in e-book on 24th December 2017 and in paperback on 28th February 2018 by Orenda Books.
After convicting a superior for corruption and shooting off a gangster’s crown jewels, the career of Hamburg’s most hard-bitten state prosecutor, Chastity Riley, has taken a nose dive: she has been transferred to the tedium of witness protection to prevent her making any more trouble.
However, when she is assigned to the case of an anonymous man lying under police guard in hospital – almost every bone in his body broken, a finger cut off, and refusing to speak in anything other than riddles – Chastity’s instinct for the big, exciting case kicks in.

A big thank you to Anne Cater and Orenda Books for issuing me with my review copy and for inviting me to participate on the blog tour.
Orenda have a good habit of picking books that have very strong female protoganists and this one didn’t disappoint! Chastity Riley reminds me of a German Lori Anderson who I am a big fan of.
Blue Night is quite a compact book and I found it to be quite a slow burner to start with but this just added to the build up of action that Chastity finds herself involved with.
The chapters are short and snappy and we are given little snippets of various times in the characters lives that add to the anticipation of finding out more about them and what has led up to present day. We find out about Chastity as a youngster although the author doesn’t reveal too much, I’m looking forward to hopefully delving into her character in future books and learning about her.
Set mainly in Hamburg, we are drawn into the murky underworld of the drug culture and the author has an excellent way of getting under your skin and showing you the grim realities of the drug world.
The action ramps up in the second part of the book and you find yourself getting swept along for the ride.
This is a great start to a new series and I’m really looking forward to reading more as Chastity Riley, like Lori Anderson, really grabs a hold of you and gets a grip of you making you want more!
To follow the rest of the tour…
